bore
of the arms
The
bore is represented from the diameter of the spirit of one
gun tube or of an arm to striped gun-barrel whichever, of
rule is expressed in millimeter, and is measured between the
full loads of the threading. The minimal bore in artillery
is equal to 20 millimeter. Under such measure the weapon is
considered portable. The maximum bore caught up in artillery
has been of 600 milimeter, belonged to a used German self-moving
mortar in war 1939-45.
In the rifled gun barrel small-caliber, the
bore is represented with conventional numbers that they report
to the measure in cent or thousandth of inch.
In the smooth-bore gun barrel the bore is
indicated with a number correspondent to the number of spherical
balls of lead having equal diameter to that one of the cane
which they can be obtained from one pound of lead. |
